FAQ's

How often should I have my RV tanks professionally cleaned?

It’s recommended to clean your black and gray tanks every 6–12 months, depending on how often you use your RV. Regular maintenance prevents clogs, odors, and sensor issues, keeping your system in top shape.

How much does RV tank cleaning cost?

I usually run a special based on my location.  The less I have to travel the cheaper the cost.  I charge the $150 for a local (2 tank job) and $125 if you have a referral.  I post my location on the first page of the website.

What can I do if my RV toilet is clogged?

Try these steps:

  • Use a gentle plunger.
  • Add an enzyme-based tank treatment (no harsh chemicals).
  • If the clog persists, contact me for professional help.
  • Avoid chemical drain openers — they can damage your system.

Why does my RV sink smell so bad?

Common causes:

  • Gray tank buildup
  • Dry P-traps
  • Bacteria in drains
  • Use an RV-safe enzyme treatment, flush your gray tank often, and make sure your sink and shower drains are filled with water to seal out sewer gas.

Can I use regular toilet paper in my RV?

Yes, but use plenty of water and flush often.
For best results, use RV-specific toilet paper — it breaks down faster and helps prevent clogs.

When should I dump my black tank?

Only dump your black tank when it's at least two-thirds full.
This allows for stronger flow, better flushing, and less buildup on the tank walls.

Can I use household cleaning products in my RV?

Use only RV-safe cleaning products.
Household cleaners can damage tanks, seals, and plumbing. Stick to products like:

  • RV toilet bowl cleaner
  • Enzyme-based tank treatments

Pro Tip:

Combine tank cleaning with services like water heater flushing, or anode rod replacement to keep your RV running smoothly all year.
